YAWAMA Dragons
Swim Team

Participation in YAWAMA Dragons builds lifelong skills. This is a great resource for official team clothing and accessories.

The YMCA is forming a parent advisory group for the swim team. If you are interested in being involved, please contact Coach Maxwell at mmaxwell@ymca-portland.org or 503.625.9622.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Aaron Paulson, a Dragon, on making his 5th Paralympic team for the USA headed to Beijing in the fall. Also congrats to Mark Rieniets, a long time Dragon parent, official and supporter, on his invitation to officiate at the 2008 Paralympics in China. Quite an honor for both of these YAWAMA team members. Welcome to Alice Luo as she has moved here to the YAWAMA Dragons to train for her trip to the Paralympics where she will represent Taiwan. It is an honor to have her join us in her pursuit of excellence at the highest levels of swimming.

Thanks to all those Dragon families that helped bring and work the YMCA Regional meet that was held at Mt Hood Community College. Without all of you we couldn't have pulled this off. A thanks to Renee Brouse and Paige Flanagan for bringing their familes out to help. We can not forget the other Oregon Y's that sent volunteers to help. A thanks to Jennifer Kuiper, Sherwood YMCA board member, for helping out at the meet. A special thanks to Mark Rieniets for without his work leading up to and during the meet it wouldn't have been possible. This was the biggest activity that Sherwood Y has ever done and with the help of all of these people and the Sherwood Swimming Association it was a great hit with those in attendance.

Dominic Rieniets was honored as an NCAA All American for his performances at the NCAA III National Championships for Linfield College. Way to go Dom.
